Owned and operated by Sportsnet, the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling is an annual series comprised of six curling events featuring the top ranked men's and women's curling teams in the world, and is the largest event series on the professional tour.

The HearingLife Tour Challenge will be held in Grande Prairie at the Coca-Cola Centre from October 18 - October 23, 2022. The Grande Prairie Curling Centre has partnered with the City of Grande Prairie and is seeking volunteers to ensure the events’ success. Positions include Set Up and Tear Down, Ice Makers, Scorekeepers, Timers, Statisticians, Transportation as well as volunteers to run the Program and  50/50 Ticket Sales.


As a volunteer, you could be part of six different teams. These teams and their responsibilities are as follows:

  • Set Up and Tear Down - As a part of this team, you are responsible for setting up and tearing down signage, unloading equipment, and general event preparations.
  • Ice Makers - Reporting to the Head Ice Maker, you would be assisting to level and paint lines, prepare carpet and foam, and general maintenance throughout the event. This position does not require previous ice making experience.
  • Scorekeepers and Timers - Working alongside the Level II Official, you will use the SweepKeep score clock to track the "Slam Time" countdown.
  • Statisticians - Following a triple knockout format, you will compile statistics on each player for the duration of the event.
  • Tier 2 Transportation - You will pick up and drop off players at the airport/hotel/venue.

You Bring

In each volunteer role, the qualifications vary and are dependent on the role.

  • Set Up and Tear Down - Applicants must be able to lift 30 lbs and are comfortable standing for long periods of time. Experience working with ladders is an asset.
  • Ice Makers - Ice making experience is an asset but is not required. Applicants must be comfortable working for long periods of time.
  • Scorekeepers and Timers - Applicants must have a keen eye for detail. Previous experience with score keeping and using score clocks such as SweepKeep is an asset. Training will be provided on the first day of the event (30 minutes).
  • Statisticians - Training will be provided on Monday prior to the first draw (2 hours).
  • Tier 2 Transportation -Applicants must have a valid Class 5 drivers license.

Training Details

Training will be provided prior to the event for scorekeepers, timers, and statisticians.
