Description
First Steps Drop in Centre is committed to providing ongoing support to parenting teens and their children. Quality childcare is important to the growth and development of all children. Healthy and safety are a priority. We are a child-centered, family focused program. Through positive guidance, continuous nurturing, and a structured yet flexible routine we help the children reach developmental milestones, while encouraging the young parents to reach their personal best as well.
Our staff and volunteers act as role models to the parents and children for learning basic life skills that are important to their success; these are skills they may not have acquired yet from others.
Integral parts of our programming include the promotion of family literacy, seizing teachable moments within the center, and modeling responsive and interactive caregiving. We also promote healthy and nutritious eating habits, teach patience and understanding, and guide both the physical as well as emotional health and well-being of both parent and child.
