Kakwa Toastmasters Members (Photo provided by Kakwa Toastmaster Club #3068)For many speaking in front of a room of people can be a daunting task, but with practice some can build their confidence and the skill to become a great public speaker.  To help residents in Grande Prairie and area they can join the Kakwa Toastmasters Club #3068.  Part of Toastmasters International, the local club has been helping past, present and future members improve their leadership and communication skills for over forty years in our community.

Club President Warren Miller says, “The Toastmasters program helps individuals overcome a fear of speaking; organize their thoughts; prepare and present their message; open presentations with engaging comments; recognize the needs of an audience.” The organization holds 40 meetings during the year. Lead by fellow members the group practices speaking on topics without preparation during a Q&A period called Table Topics, they also prepare & present speeches to the group and receive constructive feedback on how to improve their skills.  Members can take an online program called Pathways, that is designed to develop communication and leadership skills to help them and other members succeed. Warren states, “local Toastmasters have moderated panels and acted as Master of Ceremonies for a non-profit events with skills they learned through Toastmasters.”

Those interested in joining Kakwa Toastmaster can attend a meeting as a guest and become a member by filling out an application and paying club dues .For more information about Kakwa Toastmasters call 780-882-4188 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
