Madeline Parlee: The Pregnancy Care Centre

The Pregnancy Care Centre nominates Madeline Parlee for Volunteers of the Week. They wrote ‘Madeline drives into GP from LaGlace to volunteer in our centre on Thursdays. She organizes and takes home donated clothing to launder and mend before we give them to clients. She works hard never complaining but always looking for ways to improve a display or presentation. You would never guess that Madeline is in her late 70s. She is such a delight and full of energy.’

Meals on Wheels nominates Dee Chailler for Volunteers of the Week. They wrote ‘Dee is a dependable, enthusiastic volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program who truly radiates passion for her volunteer work.  She approaches the task with a full heart, ready to give 100% to anyone she encounters.  We appreciate her dedication and chipper personality!’

Volunteers of the Week - Stacey B.January 14, 2019

Stacey B.: St. John Ambulance

St. John Ambulance nominates Stacy S. for Volunteers of the Week. They wrote ‘Stacey has quite the resume with SJA: Stacey began the process and became an instructor in 2009; In 2012 Stacey joined the MFR (Medical First Responder) Volunteer program and has 398 volunteer hours to date; In 2013 Stacey became our Training Liaison to the MFR group; In 2016 Stacey received “The Lyle E. Sproat Award” which honors individuals who have demonstrated excellence instructing St. John Ambulance programs; In 2017 Stacey took the Staff Instructor position in the Grande Prairie office; In 2018 Stacey was inducted into the “Order of St. John Ambulance”. Stacey is truly a blessing to have a part of St. John Ambulance; we look forward to seeing what else this amazing lady can do!’

Suzanne B. & her dog Spencer: St. John Ambulance

St. John Ambulance nominates Suzanne B. and her dog Spencer for Volunteers of the Week. They wrote ‘Suzanne and Spencer joined our Therapy Dog program in 2014 and have continued to volunteer in the community. Suzanne currently visits with Spencer at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, GPFD, and Lakeview Seniors Housing in Clairmont.  To date Suzanne has volunteered 596 hours to the community. Thank you again for continuing with the Therapy Dog program and making a difference in so many people’s lives!’

Fay Bacon nominated by Alysoun Wells

Alysoun Wells nominated Fay Bacon for Volunteers of the Week. Alysoun wrote ’Fay is a long-time resident of the city and county of Grande Prairie. She has never been one to seek the spotlight, but is always looking for ways to improve her neighbourhoods, and to make sure newcomers are included and welcomed. Fay lives in The Residence and on her walks this fall would pick up and clean up litter in the neighbourhood. She is an inspiration to many for her warmth and inclusiveness ...wherever she resides or socializes!’
