Description

As a One Window Resource Support Volunteer, you will be at the forefront of providing essential support and care to individuals experiencing homelessness. Your role will encompass serving meals, sorting donations, and maintaining a clean and welcoming facility. By dedicating your time and compassion, you will help create a safe and supportive environment for those in need.

Training Details

1. Meal Service:
Assist in serving meals.
Ensure meals are distributed in an organized and respectful manner.
Accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences with empathy.

2. Donation Sorting:
Sort and organize incoming donations, including clothing, blankets, hygiene items, and more.
Ensure donations are appropriately categorized and stored for easy distribution.
Maintain a clean and organized sorting area.

3. Facility Cleaning and Maintenance:
Clean and sanitize common areas, restrooms, and eating areas.
Restock supplies like paper towels, soap, and hygiene items as needed.
Assist in general facility maintenance tasks as required.

4. Interactions with Guests:
Whether guests are experiencing homelessness or properly housed, everyone is welcome at the GPFC. Volunteers are expected to interact with guests respectfully and compassionately.
Listen to guests needs and provide assistance or referrals when appropriate.
Uphold a non-judgmental and welcoming atmosphere.

5. Teamwork:
Collaborate with fellow volunteers and staff to ensure efficient operations.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
Be flexible and willing to assist in various tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
Compassion and empathy for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and respectful attitude.
Basic cleaning and organizational skills.
Physical ability to engage in cleaning and sorting tasks.
Patience and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
